Smiling woman about to get her dental filling checked

Dental Fillings

If left untreated, a cavity can cause pain, sensitivity, and other oral health issues.  Discreet tooth-colored fillings can address tooth decay to restore your oral health without detracting from your smile. Learn why patients choose dentist Jose Valenzuela, Jr., in Los Algodones, Mexico, for their dental fillings.

What Is a Filling?

A dental filling is used to treat cavities and tooth decay. Your dentist will remove the decay and then fill the tooth with amalgam or composite resin material to prevent bacteria from entering. This preserves the tooth structure and prevents the spread of infection and decay to other teeth.

They have state of the art dental equipment and the staff was timely, genuine, nice and efficient. I will be returning for my follow-up appointment in four months and am looking forward to completing my procedure. It was also a pleasure shopping in the many markets lining the streets. I recommend the Cosmetic and Implant Center highly and with no reservation.

Consultation

You will first need a consultation at our dental office in Los Algodones, Mexico. Your dentist will examine your mouth and determine if a filling is the right treatment for you. If you have multiple oral health concerns, dental fillings can often be combined with other treatments such as root canals, dental implants, and more for a full mouth reconstruction.

Anesthetic

To begin treatment, your dentist will first numb the area with a local anesthetic. We also provide calming sedation dentistry options for patients who need a higher level of comfort care.

Decay Removal

Once you are thoroughly numbed, your dentist will remove areas of decay. This is done with a drill, but thanks to the local anesthetic you will not feel a thing.

Filling

Once the decay is removed, your dentist will fill the tooth. For composite resin fillings, the resin material is added, molded, and then hardened with a UV light.

Once that is done, your dental filling treatment is complete!

Can I Prevent Cavities?

/

Proper oral hygiene and routine cleanings are crucial to preventing cavities and tooth decay. Fluoride can also prevent and even stop decay by making your enamel more resistant to decay-causing acids produced by bacteria.
